The Michigan Model for Health ™ (MMH) provides an excellent, evidence-based SEL curriculum recognized by the Collaborative for Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) as a SELect program that is available to Michigan teachers at a very low or possibly no cost to schools. The curriculum is now available in a digital format at the elementary and middle school levels. The Michigan Model for Health ™ (MMH) provides excellent family resources on a variety of relevant health topics for parents as part of a broader evidence-based health education curriculum at the elementary and middle school levels. It is available to Michigan teachers at a very low or possibly no cost to schools. Family Resource Sheets are provided at each grade level in a digital format to share with and involve parents in the health education of their child(ren). Contact your Regional School Health Coordinator for more information about how you can access the MMH curriculum including Family Resource Sheets and receive free training to implement the curriculum.

Topic areas include Social and Emotional Health; Nutrition and Physical Activity; Safety; Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs; Personal Health and Wellness; HIV and Other STI’s. A Scope and Sequence guide is available to download for free to explore the comprehensive health topics and concepts taught in the curriculum. The curriculum is now available in a digital format at the elementary and middle school levels. Healthy School Action Tools (HSAT)
The HSAT helps Michigan schools and districts create a healthy school culture and environment that supports learning. The HSAT consists of assessments, feedback reports, and action planning tools that measure the health of school environments, and then guide the planning and implementation of improvements based on best practices.

The HSAT Action Plan walks school health teams through effective planning steps and provides a convenient way to document and share progress.It provides:
- Structure – to help schools and districts select actions that support healthy school environments
- Methods – for quickly and easily assessing feasibility and prioritizing actions
- Centralization – a convenient way to keep track of actions completed, actions being worked on, and progress toward goals

The School Wellness Award (SWA) recognizes schools that are making significant policy and environmental improvements related to healthy eating, physical activity, and tobacco-free lifestyles.
Try This: Apply for a School Wellness Award
The SWA application process alone can help schools become healthier as the school health team explores and documents their successes. Displaying your SWA e-badge on your school website is a great way to show that you value student and staff wellness!

Document & Celebrate
The School Success Stories website is an online repository where schools and districts can share their successes in the creation of healthy learning environments for students and staff. Stories are searchable and categorized by topic,allowing visitors to access hundreds of inspiring successes from schools and districts across Michigan, which they can then try to replicate locally.
