    Curriculum Guide. A classroom curriculum based on the adventures of Hearty Heart and his friends. Children learn how to prepare healthy snacks, set physical activity and healthy eating goals, and are introduced to GO, SLOW, and WHOA foods.

    Hearty Heart and Friends Videos Eight entertaining episodes tell the story of Hearty Heart and his friends from Planet Strongheart, who travel to Planet Earth and teach children about healthy eating and physical activity behaviors.

    Hearty Heart Home Team Players Guides Six homework assignments describing the adventures of Hearty Heart and his friends as they explore Planet Earth and teach Earthling children about healthy eating and physical activity. The assignments coincide with activities and objectives in the curriculum. The student and his or her adult family members form a home team and complete the homework activities together.

  • Grade 4: Taking Off!

    Curriculum Guide. A classroom curriculum that introduces an intergalactic cartoon reporter named Tillie Tellstar. Topics such as energy balance, types of fats, added sugars in foods, and food advertising are covered using entertaining activities. Activities reinforce the skills needed to select and prepare healthful means and snacks, guide physical activity patterns, and foster an environment of peer support.

  • Grade 5: Breaking Through Barriers

    Curriculum Guide A classroom curriculum in which students apply their knowledge of healthy eating and physical activity to help them overcome barriers to a healthy lifestyle. Students are also introduced to MyPlate, pulse taking, and body cues for physical activity, and they participate in problem-solving activities.

  • P.A.S.T. Diabetes: Putting a Stop to Diabetes

    A classroom curriculum focusing on introductory information about the two types of diabetes, risk factors for the disease, and ways to prevent and treat diabetes.

  • Eat Smart Guide

    This manual for Child Nutrition Services includes information to plan, purchase, prepare, and promote healthy meals; it also includes ideas to coordinate nutrition education and health messages with teachers, parents, administrators, and the community.
